News— June 2010;
Star Street Video supplied Sony HDW 790 equipment to ASA Productions for the filming of “13 Hours” a programme that tells the story of the 13th September 1940 during the Battle of Britain from the pont of view of the people that experienced it. On this day the RAF had all it's available planes in the air and had nothing in reserve. Filming involved interviewing people who experienced the battles and the bombing first hand. Some were already celebrities at the time like Dame Vera Lynn and some went on to become celebrates like Nicholas Parsons and Jimmy Perry, one of the writers of "Dad's Army". Most were ordinary people living through a terrible period during the Second World War.
D.O.P Richard P Hill used the HDW 790 in 25P and lit the interviewees using Kinoflo “Diva” lights and Panther “Romy” lights also supplied by Star Street Video.
The choice to make this production in HDCam was an obvious one said ASA Director Stephen Saunders:
“Most Broadcasters ask us to deliver in HDCam these days so it made sense to originate all material in the same format. It also future proofs the interview material. The interviewee's are all in their 80’s now so getting the interviews done reasonably quickly was a must. “
“13 Hours” will broadcast in August 2010 on the History Channel as part of the 70th Anniversary of the Battle Of Britain.
